Ella Noah Bancroft is a Proud Bundjalung woman who has bloodlines to Poland and Scotland.

Ella is a Indigenous artist, published author, mentor, consultant and founder of “The Returning Indigenous Corporation”, which is a charity that provides programs for Indigenous communities to feel supported to continue culture, repair broken knowledge systems, care for country, use and heal through nature therapy and support those who uphold the care economy which is the backbone to our society. All of our programs are culturally safe, Indigenous run and trauma informed. 

Ella is an experienced speaker and facilitator advocating for the environment, social justice and system change.  

Through her writing and work Ella has been promoting decolonisation and the rise of the female energy as way back to deep relationship with nature. Ella has been doing decolonial work around personal, social and ecological well-being for 10 years. 

Ella ‘s books Sun and Moon (2022, Hardie Grant), and It takes courage to tell the truth (2019, Self Published) were written always with her kinship in mind. Both human and non human. Ella’s family is her greatest inspiration and her cultural responsibilities guide her through the modern world.  

Ella had an opinion piece in the Australia wide newspaper The Koori Mail since 2022.

In 2022 Ella was apart of the Koori mail flood hub recovery work and was a key organiser of the flood hub. She was amongst her community when they recieved the innovation award at NAIDOC in 2022.

Ella is the founder and director of The Returning Indigenous Corporation, an Indigenous charity that brings health and wellness through a nature based approach and connection back to country led by Indigenous facilitators.

The Returning offers programs for all people.

Camps for Elders, Men, Women and Jarjums.

Weekends for Women.

Indigenous health connection retreats and Youth programs.

Ella believes that by bringing communities of people to reconnect back with wisdom, each other and the land can solve a lot of the root causes of our current social and environmental crises. 

She has been on the board for Women Up North since 2019. Women Up North is a Northern NSW service for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic or family violence or abuse.

Ella is an active member of her community.
